About

With lofty goals of establishing herself in the entertainment industry, Alexandra The Great 48 showcased such potential early in her life by winning a Sophie Loren lookalike contest as a teenager. Years later, while modeling for Xavier Cugat, she was discovered by Rose La Rose, who introduced her to the world of burlesque. During the late 1950s, 1960s, and early 1970s, Alexandra The Great 48 headlined numerous burlesque shows in the US and abroad. She spent a significant period of time in Hawaii, where she once famously stopped traffic by appearing in costume and attracting more than 3,000 observers.

Following the end of her career in burlesque, she began working as a beautician at Universal Studios. Later, out of a desire to preserve her youthful looks, she created a line of beauty products. She was inducted into the Burlesque Hall of Fame in 2014 and featured in the documentary Behind the Burly Q, which includes interviews from several burlesque performers and actor Alan Alda, whose father, Robert, was a burlesque comedian and singer.
